DROP TEA SET
Expand the beauty of traditional green tea in a modern way
Designer Ziren Zhou designed a unique glass tea set inspired by “the dew slipping from bamboo leaves”. Compared with traditional teapots, he hopes to highlight the beauty and aroma of the green tea brewing process, and uses atmospheric pressure to squeeze out just two cups of tea at a time to add interest to the process of brewing green tea. Enlarge the interesting details such as bubbles, droplets, steam and rotating tea leaves in water, so that the fresh and moist state of green tea is better presented in the tea tasting experience. Detach the traditional tea utensils, interpret the beauty of tea in a modern way, and push the traditional “tea ceremony” to young people in a more interesting way.
Green tea is known as "spring flavor” in China, it is the most common and most popular tea. Black Tea was taken to Europe in 1610 by a Dutch Merchant, and have became the most common tea in Western Country.

Tea originated in China, but belongs to the whole world. Whether we can find a way to get rid of cultural shackles and enjoy tea in a modern way?
Inspiration & Basic Outline
Water Flow System
With help from traditional physics method, Drop Tea Set construct a water system, and was fully verified through a functional prototype made by chemical instruments. By using siphon principle and PASCAL's principle, Drop Tea Set achieved the function of the legendary “auto teapot”.
Hot Bending Process
Basic glass shapes are blown with a graphite mould and the open disc on top is manually bent by heating the neck part.
